Talk Up Toastmasters – 1 March Update

Is your club bringing in guests and introducing them to the advantages of Toastmasters? March is especially challenging, since we are completing the Talk Up Toastmasters membership drive and also completing our Semi-Annual Dues collection process.

According to TI’s website, 40 of our 100 clubs have added at least one new member during the Talk Up Toastmasters membership drive (Feb 2010), and one has already added 5 or more members – Farmers Ins Group Club #458 has 7! Congrats!

Three clubs are on the cusp of success, Manhattan Toastmasters #2570, Cerner’s PowerSpeak IT Toastmasters Club #793002, and TalkPoint #1326829 have all signed up 4 new members in February. Seven clubs have 3 new members, and eight more have 2.

For renewals, here are some reasons to stay involved. Think about them and pass them on to your fellow members:

1. Increased confidence – giving speeches and running meetings helps your confidence grow.
2. Increased competence – even if you’ve finished your CC, AC Gold or DTM, working on another CC or AC award can help you polish your technique.
3. Economic resiliance – no promises here, but I can tell you that when I was laid off last February, it made a difference to have so many professional contacts throughout town thanks to my involvement in Toastmasters. Plus, I nailed an interview a few months later and am now employed again. There are at least a half dozen similar stories I am aware of in our district.

March is a critical month for all of our clubs continued success. For some tips to help you in your membership drive, look at this post, the District 22 Marketing Page or on TI’s website for more information.

Goal 7 (4 new members) 48 45.7%
Goal 8 (4 more new members) 18 17.1%
